It
was obvious that her artistic skills began at a very early age.
By the time she was in Jr. High School, she was already exhibited.
Her very first piece of charcoal art hung in her grandmother’s
home displayed on a prominent wall. She had gained her first
fan for her talents. While that was the first exhibited piece,
it was by no means the last.
Later
in life she was inspired to study art after creating landscape
drawings for a home project. Her second fan, her husband, pushed
her to pursue the arts and use these talents. She studied with
local Dallas artist, Vivian Paige Wheeler, and various colleges
in the Dallas area.
Never
really understanding that her art was not just for her pleasure
but a God-given gift to be enjoyed by others as well, Linda painted
for what she considered a "hobby". But over time, she
realized that while people were offering her money to buy paintings,
she might do well to enter in exhibits. In so doing, she has won
several awards in national competitions. Her work now hangs in
private, nonprofit and municipal facilities in the southwest as
well as a billboard she designed for the City of Mineola, which
is located on I-20 in East Texas.
In
1994, Linda decided to plunge into her art 100% and give the art
world all she had to offer. She opened an art gallery and represented
other artists working as a consultant as well. One of her clients
found her representation lucrative in her negotiations with a
representative of Switzerland to sell his black bear sculptures
to be presented to Swiss government officials. Linda showed her
business style by conducting wine and cheese receptions for each
new artist as they joined the gallery. There were constant exhibits
at LaSalle Art Gallery. In the flurry of that activity, she was
approached by a playwright to use part of her gallery for a dinner
theatre which she agreed to do. A mirage of talent came through
the doors of LaSalle Art Gallery and East Texas is still talking
about their pleasure from their participation in this art form.
The
year 1997 opened up a new art form and era for Linda. She began
her study in sculpture and today concentrates most her time to
that and watercolor paintings.
Please
visit her virtual gallery often. New artwork will be displayed
as it develops and sign her guest register. She would love to
know who has visited and your location. Please contact her if
you have any questions or want to dialogue regarding art.
