HP DLT-80 tape drives feature industry leading SE/LVD auto sense, SCSI interface and LVDS (Low voltage differential signaling) connectivity to provide better support to the modern server environments. Increased Data throughput performance of 12 MB/s (compressed), and enhanced capacity provides you extra bandwidth to fulfill the requirements of shrinking backup windows.
DLT-80 tape drives are incorporated with latest hardware compression system, which provides rock solid 2:1 compression without affecting the backup systems’ overall performance. These drives support multiple rack mount configurations, so that the customers can easily integrate them into their data centers. HP DLT-IV drives deliver excellent performance with the industry’s leading non-HP and HP-branded servers, high demanding backup applications and operating systems. Backup applications supported by HP DLT drives are Yosemite Tapeware, VERITAS Backup Exec, Dantz Retrospect Backup, Computer Associates ARCserve and HP Data Protector. HP DLT-80 drives are compatible with Novell NetWare, SuSE Linux, Caldera Open Server, Red Hat Linux, HP Tru64 UNIX, Caldera OpenUnix, OpenVMS, Windows NT 4.0, Caldera UnixWare and OpenVMS operating systems.
Increased tape tension and tape slippage can increase the error rate. That’s why HP has introduced a highly smooth and strong tape reel in DLT-4 back tapes. Customers can seamlessly install the HP DLT-80 tape drives in 5U and 3U rack mount options. 5U rack mount can accommodate up to 4 internal DLT-IV tape drives, while the 3U rack mount can house 2 internal DLT drives.
HP conducts various rigid tests on multiple batches of backup drives and tapes in different harsh working conditions including humidity, heavy duty cycles and high/low temperatures.
